The Wave Valley showcases a marvelous world sculpted by millions of years of wind, water, and time on sandstone. The complex layers of rock in the Wave Valley are formed by massive sand dunes deposited since the Jurassic period 150 million years ago. At that time, the landscape here resembled the Sahara Desert, with sand dunes continuously covered by layers of red sand soaked in groundwater. Over time, minerals in the water solidified the sand into sandstone, forming layered structures. The smooth, sculptural sandstone and the smooth patterns on the rocks create a dizzying three-dimensional effect.
